You are reading this article for one of two reasons. You either want to know what the “5 reasons” are, or you want to see “what happens next.” Well I’m here to tell you that all I wanted to do was get you to click the link, because it proves a point. Our world today, especially “Millennials” needs instant gratification. That’s why we like lists, because we can ignore all of the text that isn’t in bold print. It’s only the 1-5 points that matter to us. So here they are for you to make this article worth anything…

1. Because it’s the complete opposite of what you would assume.

If a liquor store is robbed, nearby pedestrians come to the rescue to stop the burglar. If a homeless man gets injured, people get out of their cars to help him get to safety. Just think of a negative situation and what YOU WON’T BELIEVE is the complete opposite.

2. Because there are only so many “unbelievable” situations that are interesting enough to read.

If an article tells you about a celebrity, the elderly, police officers, fights, or any illegal activity, rest assured you WILL believe what happens next. These are all subjects that we have preconceived notions about, and that’s what makes them (semi) interesting.

3. Because you would never read an article that gives you exactly what you expect.

We are creatures that must always be entertained or we’ll get bored and move on. If there isn’t a catchy title to an article it’s not worth the time of day to click on. An article entitled “YOU WON’T BELIEVE” is interesting because it tells the reader to expect the unexpected, even though at this point we should now understand it will be the complete opposite than thee expected.photo-1436377037450-1b1bb5ba3c60

4. Because no one can prove you wrong.

If an article tells me I won’t believe it, I’ll click on that link just to prove to the writer that “HA, I knew that was going to be the outcome.” So if nothing else, we just want self gratification that we’re smart.

5. Lastly… Oh forget it, you’re still going
to click this link.

Tell me why YOU still click those stupid “won’t believe” links on the Facebook.
