A few days ago I was at Starbucks doing my usual social media work, but not in my usual spot (darn you teenage girls in the corner). This time I was right at the retrieving area where everyone must gather to get his drinks. However, I found it to be more intriguing than annoying. Hearing a few minute conversations about the weather or parking with total strangers can get extremely awkward for the people waiting for their order to be ready but one man, let’s say Jim caught my attention. While Jim waited for his drink he overheard a lady deciding what size drink to get. He jokingly said, “Go with the Venti. It’s Friday, get crazy!” As if this workweek drained her so much and she was so over it that she needed a reward for her great accomplishment of making it through another week at her dreadful job. I wondered what Jim did for work. A big man like him, in his nice, white, button up shirt, with loosen tie. Where are you from 9am-5pm, and why do you seem to think making it through that work place is such a struggle that it deserves a reward once you’re out?

Now I may be thinking too much into this, but think about it for a second. Isn’t it a scary thought to think the place you spend 40hrs a week isn’t rewarding to you? You may not always want to get up in the morning and head to the office, but once you’re there, why not make the best of it? Don’t be Jim, and wait till 5 o’clock on Friday to feel satisfaction and enjoyment. Wake up each morning ready to crunch those numbers like nobody’s business, and be sure to make somebody laugh today… Be passionate.
