In this world there is disappointment. There are also distractions, which can lead to destruction. But one thing can change this, and that is desire. Instead of gaining knowledge and information through media sources whose only motivation is to get more link clicks and page views, we must be a people that desires a higher level of learning. I’m not saying everyone must go to college to receive their “higher education,” because it is possible to learn life lessons through other outlets.

“See, it’s not enough to leave school and just desire to succeed in this cold, cruel world. Because then you’ve simply become a part of it. You must also have the desire to change it.”

-Mr. Feeny (Boy Meets World)

You see, a common T.V. sitcom from the 90’s provides us with more than just a few laughs. This show also gives us real world advice on how to live a better life and inspire those around us. The lessons from this show have become a staple in each episode. But this is far from the only television sitcom that has these lessons. The U.S. version of The Office also supplies us encouraging words to hold dearly.

“There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn’t that kind of the point?”

-Pam Beesly (The Office, U.S. version)

Simple and elegant words spoken with complete sincerity about our everyday living. The busyness of this world is not something we should get lost in and overcomplicate. Life is meant to be simple, void of confusion and petty arguments. While an impossible feat, it must be something we still desire as we go on living our daily lives. Music is also another medium we could use to learn how to create a more successful and positive community. In their song “Greener,” All The Day Holiday sings:

“Won’t you get out of this world, get out of this place? Make a life worth living, with love on your face.”

-All The Day Holiday (Greener)

Don’t stay stuck in this world, and stuck in your ways. There’s more to your purpose, and more to this day.
